Every year, New American Leaders selects New Americans
with a high potential to run for office within two years
for the New American Fellows® program.
The fellowship provides:
- Monthly training sessions specifically designed for each cohort
- One-on-one coaching sessions with NAL staff
- Mentorship by an elected official in the NAL network
- A community of fellow New American and BIPOC leaders
Hosted online with a vibrant digital community, participants will gain advanced campaign skills and learn how to develop a comprehensive plan to win. Fellows will hear from seasoned campaign professionals, top consultants, and New Americans from across the country who have run for office and won. Best of all, they will get hands on experience in critical components of a campaign like fundraising and doing call-time, the endorsement interview process and delivering their stump speech.
NAL firmly believes in setting our fellows up for success and will provide ongoing coaching by NAL staff to help complete individualized New American Leadership Plan. Fellows will also be assigned a mentor who will offer guidance and feedback as they prepare to announce their candidacy.
New American Fellows and Ready to Lead® alumni have continued on to run for School Board, City Council, Mayor, State Legislature, and Congress.
