Elected and Appointed Officials Site Visit Program
In a rapidly changing and increasingly unpredictable world, New Americans are increasingly on the frontlines of pressing issues across the country.
New American Leaders’ Elected and Appointed Officials Site Visit Program is an important continuing education experience for members of our Elected and Appointed Officials Network that will leave cohort members feeling empowered and energized to bring forth progress for their constituents.
By participating in our immersive site visit program, you will:
- Travel to a location that is a case study for the subject matter the site visit is centered on, providing a hands-on experience you can’t get at a traditional conference.
- Meet, speak, and learn from the people who are on the ground doing important work to address the problem in their community.
- Return to your jurisdictions with new knowledge and examples of applied policy and strategy you can utilize in your community.
New American Leaders is committed to helping members of our Elected and Appointed Officials Network lead. Our Governance program will support you after a site visit through one-on-one conversations and coaching to help you strategize and overcome challenges in implementing changes in your community.

Elected leaders in Miami-Dade County have been prioritizing innovative transportation and land-use reforms with an eye towards resilience in the face of rising sea levels and a growing population.
