New American HERO AWARDS 2021

For 10 years, NAL has been building a movement to ensure that immigrants and refugees are included, represented, and engaged in our democracy. In today’s environment, when our communities’ health and well-being are under constant attack, it is more important than ever that our elected officials — from school board to Congress — reflect the diversity of everyday Americans. On April 22, 2021, we will honor a few of the trailblazers making our vision of inclusive democracy a reality.

Join us for this special evening as we celebrate U.S. Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-2), U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (MN-5), Arizona State Representative Raquel Terán, and Worthington, Ohio School Board Member Sam Shim, three inspiring heroes who are fighting for New American communities every day. We will also honor the inspirational vision and fearless leadership of NAL’s founder and former president, Sayu Bhojwani. The evening will be emceed by CEO of Enfranchisement, co-founder of RUN AAPI, and Obama administration alum Brad Jenkins!

Tackling the nation’s biggest challenges, from economic inequality, systemic racism, and a health care crisis requires ingenuity and bravery. We are betting on New Americans who embody these qualities to change business as usual.
