Elected Advisory Council

New Americans and communities of color helped determine the outcome of the 2020 election. Now, with a new cohort of bold, visionary New Americans in elected office, it is time for us to leverage our growing political power and create a policy agenda that includes the voices of all New Americans and people of color.

To ensure our national priorities and political power are acted upon, New American Leaders launched our first ever New American Elected Officials Advisory Council in Spring 2021. This council is composed of six New American elected officials from key electoral states and will provide thought leadership on critical issues facing New American communities and policy solutions that can address them. The current members of our Elected Advisory Council are:

Arizona State Representative Raquel Terán
Florida State Representative Anna Eskamani
Georgia State Representative Sam Park
Wisconsin State Representative Samba Baldeh
Las Vegas City Councilwoman Olivia Diaz
Michigan State Representative Darrin Camilleri

Members of the New American Leaders Elected Advisory Council will advise on policy responses to current events, engage other New American elected officials through policy support, and connect the broader NAL network with progressive partners to create multi-racial coalitions.
