Earlier today, the House of Representatives took an important step to passing humane immigration reform. The Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6) won bipartisan support, providing a pathway to citizenship for millions of DACA recipients and legal permanent status for Temporary Protective Status and Deferred Enforced Departure recipients.
Following the vote, Sayu Bhojwani, president and founder of New American Leaders, shared the following statement:
“House Democrats today took a stand for families who are being torn apart by Trump’s anti-family and anti-immigrant agenda.
“Immigrants are people, not pawns for Senate Leader McConnell to use for political gain. As New Americans, we will hold him accountable for any delays on a Senate vote on this crucial bill and we will fight any attempts to attach discriminatory riders to this bill. Immigrant voters are watching, we won’t wait until 2020 for action, and we will remember who stands with us and who stood with Trump.”
